Description

Poxet tablets 90mg contain active ingredient dapoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is used to treat and prevent persistent or recurrent premature ejaculation (PE). It can be used in the males of age between 18 – 64 years old. Premature ejaculation (PE) is a type of common male sexual disorder which is caused by stress, performance-related anxiety and other relationship issues. Poxet is used to improve control over ejaculation and increase the time interval before ejaculation occurs during intercourse, for men with persistent or recurrent PE.

Mechanism of action

Dapoxetine 90mg, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is used specifically for premature ejaculation (PE), as it has a rapid onset of action, with maximum effect within 1-2 hours and a short half-life, which means that it is rapidly eliminated from the body within 24 hours.

The ejaculation reflex is thought to be mediated by serotonin, a specific brain chemical or neurotransmitter that is involved is transmitting nerve signals, which enables brain cells to communicate. Low levels of serotonin in certain areas of the brain are thought to be responsible for causing PE. Dapoxetine blocks the reuptake of serotonin from the synapse, which is the gap between nerve cells across which chemical messages are sent from one nerve cell to another. If the re-uptake of serotonin by the first nerve cell (pre-synaptic) is blocked, this means that there is more serotonin remaining for the receiving nerve cell (post-synaptic), which allows nerve cells to communicate with each other for longer. This action of dapoxetine helps prolong the ability to maintain sexual activity without premature ejaculation and maintain control over ejaculation for longer.

Dosing

You should take your Poxet tablets 90mg swallowed whole with a glass of water with or without food. You should take your Poxet tablet 1-3 hours before planned sexual activity. You should not take more than one tablet in 24 hours and avoid alcohol.

Side effects

The most common side effects of this drugs are

·         nausea,

·         dizziness,

·         dry mouth,

·         headache, diarrhoea

Precautions

Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine can only be used if extra care is taken. For these reasons, before you start taking dapoxetine it is important that your doctor knows:

·         If you have a tendency to faint.

·         If you have a heart condition.

·         If you have a bleeding or clotting disorder.

·         If you have epilepsy.

·         If you have ever had a mental health problem causing ‘high’ or ‘low’ moods, such as bipolar disorder, depression or mania.

·         If you have increased pressure in your eye, a condition called glaucoma.

·         If you have any problems with the way your liver works, or if you have any problems with the way your kidneys work.

Warnings

·      Do not drink alcohol whilst taking dapoxetine, as it might increase the sedative effects of the alcohol. It can also increase the risk of fainting.

 ·     Do not use any recreational drugs while you are taking dapoxetine, as this could lead to you experiencing serious side-effects.

Contraindications

Almost all the drug is contraindicated with some other drugs. Dapoxetine cannot be used

·         in patient with hepatic diseases,

·         in patient with heart failure,

·         permanent pacemaker, or other ischemic heart disease.
